METRO Advances Four To Elite Eight, Sends One to State Semi-finals
Rapids u15 Boys will face CUP Red on 5/12
Metro FC advanced four teams to the Elite Eight of this year’s OSYSA State Cup. In the Elite Eight games, Metro U12 Boys Rapids, coached by Paul Moore, lost a heart breaking match to Classics Premier from Columbus 1-0. Metro failed to convert on several opportunities and came up short in a well played match by both teams. In the Round of 16 game, the u12 Boys defeated their opponents 7-1. In the u13 boys age group, the Rapids, coached by Tony Saliba, also came up short against a strong Crew Juniors team. The match was played hard by both teams and the Crew pulled it out 1-0. To reach the Elite Eight, the u13 boys defeated The Club X Raptors 2-1 in the Round of 16.On the high school side, the u16 Boys, coached by Matt Barnes, lost 2-0 to Worthington United. In a game with few chances for both teams, Metro was unable to find the back of the net. On Saturday in the Round of 16, The Rapids defeated CUP White 6-0. In the u15 age group, the Metro Rapids Boys coached by Kevin Arcuri and Steve Carusone, defeated the Ohio Galaxies 2-0. In the round of 16, Metro defeated Team Dayton by a score of 6-0.The Rapids will play CUP Red at 3:00pm on Saturday in the OSYSA State Cup Semi-Finals. The game will take place, as will all remaining matches, at Spindler Park in Columbus. Come on out and show your support for the Metro Rapids u15 Boys!
