The Metro Rapids U14 and U16 boys had an impressive weekend in their respective MRL Divisions. Both teams play in the top division of MRL and are the only Dayton teams that compete at the highest level. The Midwest Regional League (MRL) is considered the best league in Region II and hosts the top clubs from the 14 state region. The U14 Boys, coached by Tony Saliba, lost a tough game to Grand Rapids Crew Jr.’s 3-0. Grand Rapids is considered to be one of the top teams in the country, The Rapids bounced back and beat a very good Chicago Wind Nationals by a score of 1-0. Chicago Wind is ranked by Soccerincollege.com as the number two team in the nation.
Also competing well this past weekend were the u16 Boys Rapids team. The team played very well and defeated FC Milwaukee 5-2, Metro United (Illinois) 4-1, and defeated a very strong Sockers FC team from Chicago 1-0. The results this weekend solidified second place for the team. They finished higher than Vardar, Michigan Wolves, Pacesetter, Sockers FC, Metro United and FC Milwaukee. The team is coached by Metro FC Director of Coaching, Kevin Arcuri and Steve Carusone. Congratulations to these two fine teams and best of luck to all Metro FC teams in this weekend’s state cup!
